Rusty Boone Wins 2011 Kelly Jordon Big Bass Classic
Lufkin, Texas – September 11, 2011 – The Oakley Big Bass Tour’s 5th stop of the 2011 campaign was held this weekend on Lake Sam Rayburn at the 1st Annual Kelly Jordon Big Bass Classic. Anglers faced tough drought conditions and low lake levels but the fishing didn’t disappoint. “We had some nice fish brought to the scales this weekend,” said Louis Wellen with Oakley Sports Marketing. “This is an incredible fishery and the facility at Cassels-Boykin Park is one of the best venues that we’ve had the opportunity to visit.” added Wellen.
Anglers competed throughout the event weekend for thousands in hourly cash prizes and a chance at the $10,000 grand prize for the overall largest big bass. Rusty Boone posted the leading weight on Saturday at 7.42 lbs and that lead was able to hold up throughout Sunday and earn Rusty the inaugural championship and a $10,000 payday. Up next is the Gerald Swindle Big Bass Classic at Lake Guntersville on October 15-16th.
