Jamie McMurray's Carolina Big Bass Classic Results
Charlotte, North Carolina - May 1, 2011 - The third stop of the 2011 Oakley Big Bass Tour was held on Lake Norman this past weekend at the Jamie McMurray Carolina Big Bass Classic. Anglers were greeted with chamber of commerce weather and a record number of fish were weighed in over the event weekend. “Lake Norman was stingy with the larger bite this weekend,” said Louis Wellen of Oakley Sports Marketing. “However that’s what is great about this format as anglers can get paid hourly cash for 2 and 3 pound fish throughout the tournament weekend,” added Wellen. Saturday’s competition ended with Billy Gunter in the lead with a 4.17 pound bass he brought to the scales in the 8:00 a.m. -9:00 a.m. hour.
Sunday didn’t produce the same quantity of fish but the quality improved and Michael Cummings grabbed the lead early on Sunday with a 4.93. Michael’s big bass held up throughout the day on Sunday and his win earned him a 2011 Nitro Z8 powered by Mercury and MotorGuide valued at $33,000. Up next is the fourth stop of the year on Smith Mountain Lake May 21st & 22nd at the Blue Ridge Big Bass Classic presented by Fish Virginia First.
