Blue Ridge Big Bass Classic Results
Moneta, Virginia - May 23, 2011 - The fourth stop of the 2011 Oakley Big Bass Tour was held on Smith Mountain Lake this past weekend at the Blue Ridge Big Bass Classic presented by Fish Virginia First. Close to 300 anglers participated in the first annual event and Smith Mountain Lake didn’t disappoint. “It was an outstanding weekend here on Smith Mountain Lake,” said Louis Wellen of Oakley Sports Marketing. “We were thrilled to be a part of this event and want to thank everyone involved in making the tournament a huge success,” added Wellen. Saturday’s competition ended with Charley Workman in the lead with a 5.13 pound bass he brought to the scales in the 11-12 hour.
Sunday the average weights were up overall and JD Perdue took the lead with a 5.54 weighed in the 12-1 hour. JD’s big bass earned him a 2011 Nitro Z7 powered by Mercury and MotorGuide valued at $25,000. Up next is the fifth stop of the year on Lake Sam Rayburn September 10th and 11th at the Kelly Jordon Big Bass Classic.
